Privacy Policy

Mr Sparky Electrical Services Pty Ltd
Last updated: 20 August 2026

This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it. It covers our website at mrsparky.com.au and the Mr Sparky app.

We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Using our website

What your browser tells us

Like most websites, we collect information your browser sends when you visit: your IP address, browser type and version, which pages you looked at, when, and how long you stayed. We use Google Analytics to collect and analyse this.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. We use them to keep the site working properly and to understand how it is used. You can tell your browser to refuse cookies, though parts of the site may then not work.

When you contact us

If you ask for a quote or get in touch, we collect your name, email address, phone number and the address of the job, so we can answer you and do the work.

Marketing

We will only send you newsletters or promotional material if you have opted in. You can opt out at any time and we will remove you from the list within 7 business days.

Using the Mr Sparky app

The app is for licensed electricians. It is not for customers.

Signing up to look around

When an electrician signs up to see how the network works, we collect:

We ask for nothing else at this stage. No documents, no bank details, and nothing about your own customers.

Why we ask for it

If you go on to join the network

If you decide to join and we agree, we will also collect insurance certificates, your licence certificate, white card, police check consent, the areas you work in, and your payment details. We will tell you what we need at the time. None of it is collected before you choose to go ahead.

Contractors working with us have job records, invoices, payment claims and recipient created tax invoices held in the app. These are business records.

Who else sees your information

We use these services to run the website and the app. Some are outside Australia.

Your information is stored in the United States. The app runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States, so your details are held there rather than in Australia. Amazon is contractually required to protect it, but we cannot guarantee that United States law offers the same protections as Australian law. By using the app you consent to this.

We do not store card numbers. Where we take a card payment it is handled by our payment provider, and we never see or keep the number.

We will also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect someone's safety or our legal rights.

What we do not do

How long we keep it

How we protect it

Your details are held in secured cloud storage with access limited to those who need it. Verification codes are never stored — only a scrambled version we can check against. Passwords are held by Amazon's identity service and are not visible to us.

No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure. We use reasonable measures to protect yours, and if something happens to it that is likely to cause you harm we will tell you promptly, as the law requires.

Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email privacy@mrsparky.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge.

Most of what we hold about you is also visible and editable in the app.

Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your information, email privacy@mrsparky.com.au with "Privacy Policy" in the subject line. We will look into it and respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner: oaic.gov.au · 1300 363 992

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and continuing to use the website or the app after a change means you accept it. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you by email or with a notice on the website.
